Hi friends,
I’ve let this newsletter lie dormant for quite some time. I decided to put my energies into other endeavors that were more pressing, including my expanding my side business and moving into a new ministry position. Those responsibilities, on top of family duties, required me to put most of my writing on hold for the last little while.
I’ve decided to put Get Your House In Order death. I’m still interested in building households that last, but there are others out there writing on similar topics and doing a better job. Besides, I’ve realized how much work I have to do on my own household. At this point, I probably need focus more on doing rather than writing about doing.
But I’ve also decided to refocus my writing on this platform and resurrect the newsletter. However, it’s probably going to have a more niche appeal. And so, fair warning, you may prefer to Unsubscribe.
Beginning tomorrow, I’m going to rename this Substack BFM3000 and focus on promoting a forward vision for the Southern Baptist Convention over the next year.
Since I’ve last published here I have taken a senior pastor position in a church that cooperates with the SBC. Our convention has many problems and much opportunity. Leading up to next summer’s Annual Meeting I intend to promote the ideas and reforms that I believe will set us up for faithfulness and fruitfulness in the near and far future.
I believe one problem dissenters within the SBC face is the temptation to always be in perpetual reaction to the misdeeds of the current managerial class. I believe the way we win is to promote and secure a better vision. I hope to help that effort here.
I realize this focus may not appeal to many of you, especially if you are not in an SBC church. Please feel free to go ahead and Unsubscribe below. No hurt feelings.
But rather than start from scratch, I’m going to use this current platform and mailing list to get started. I appreciate you understanding.
If a forward vision for the SBC interests you, I hope you’ll stick around. If that’s not your brand of whiskey, I wish you best as we part ways here. I hope you are getting your house in order and building it to last.
May God bless.
